About the event

Built by Marie's great-great grandfather, she raised her 9 children here. She would never let anyone renovate or modernize the house.
Her husband died overseas the same year her last child left home. His last words to Marie were "write a cookbook". She did just that.
"Hillbilly Heaven Cooking" became a best seller and she sold her rights to the book for over 5 million dollars after tax.
Marie devised a plan to use that money to bring her children home again to live with her. The money was put in an irrevocable family trust, paid out 1 million per year each Halloween, divided among herself and her children who lived in the family house year-round.
All nine children moved back, but not all of the family of ten "lived"…
